Lost Lives – Book Project

On January 11, 2026, the JHR Activity Center hosted a meaningful and important meeting. Within this framework, a day-long workshop was organized with the participation of victims who, while at the peak of their careers, were forced to leave their countries due to political and social developments and who wish to share the human rights violations they experienced, as well as a group of volunteers committed to passing these stories on to future generations.

During the workshop, a project developed by our young volunteers was presented, aiming to turn the real-life stories of victims into a book. In addition, discussions were held on reaching more victims who are willing to share their experiences, documenting their life stories, and engaging new volunteers who wish to contribute to the project throughout the process leading up to publication.

Human rights violations occurring around the world are widely known, and countries’ human rights records are reported annually by reputable organizations. However, unfortunately, these reports and statistics often fail to create the expected impact on society. For this reason, the importance of presenting individuals’ real-life stories in a language that people can easily read and understand was emphasized. Through this approach, the experiences will be recorded in history and conveyed to future generations directly from their original sources.
